6. Access Restrictions
a. What can I do with my WebAlias access restrictions?
Your WebAlias access restrictions simply determine who can use your WebAlias to access your website. Of course, it does nothing to restrict access to your site via your internet addresss.

b. How do I get the most out of access restrictions?
Rather than simply require a password, you can ask a question and demand a specific correct answer. For example, say your website hosts a discussion area on advanced electronics and you do not want novices to participate. You can limit access to your website via your WebAlias only to those you are able to correctly answer a difficult question.

Here's another example: let's say you want people to be able to access a particular document on your website via your WebAlias only if they know this week's password. To accomplish this, you need to update your WebAlias account weekly to reflect the new password. Also, because last week's visitors may have bookmarked the internet address of that document, you should change that document's name on your website and update your WebAlias so that it reflects the new name.

c. How do I change/add/remove my WebAlias access restrictions?
Simply log-in to your account via the UPDATE ACCOUNT button. You can then change any aspect of your WebAlias access restrictions.

d. How long does it take for changes to take effect?
Like any change you can make to your WebAlias Network account, modifications to access restrictions become effective as soon as you save the changes you have made to your account information.

e. What are the reasons NOT to use access restrictions?
Aside for the obvious ones, such as reducing the number of people who can actually reach your website, there is one additional one:

If you use access restrictions on your WebAlias, your WebAlias will not be eligible for free advertising. So, if at any point you wish to be included in our free advertising program, simply remove your access restrictions during such time.

The reason for this is simple: advertising space is very valuable and although we are happy to provide it to you at no charge, we do want to make the most out of it. Advertising a site with access restrictions defeats the purpose in that many people who might respond to the ad will not be able to make it past the access restrictions, thereby rendering the ad basically useless.
